Today they turned on The Large Hadron Collider, so if anyone has felt a bit odd that might be why 🙂 Aliens might visit us tonight, or we may get swallowed up by a black hole.
I’m really fascinated by the whole thing, it’s taken over 20 years to build & so many of the world’s leading scientists have worked on it. The whole world is watching closely, I’m sure (I know I am)
Here are some facts about it
> Its the largest machine in the world
> Its the fastest racetrack on the planet
> Its the most powerful supercomputer system in the world
Oh, & on a lighter note, our pub quiz team scored a respectful 39 / 50 last night at our bi-weekly quiz night. We are getting better and better with age. The conditions were not the best, extreme temperatures and cramped conditions may have left some team members a little off their game! Nonetheless, we are slowly gaining on the win!

I, too, am fascinated by the super collider and the smashing of atoms. It’s going to be interesting to see what they do come up with once they get the darn thing fixed. Bummer that it broke so soon in the process. They have to warm it up to fix it and then cool it back down to get it to going again which will take until March. I’m not too worried about them creating a black hole. That couldn’t be much worse than what we are already living with these days…. 😉
