Indian summer & Halloween orders

It’s been a busy few weeks in the koolbadges workshop. As our customers will already know, we have been running a 15% discount for everyone entering the code spooky15 during checkout. This promotion has been really popular this year, keeping us very busy (although we are missing out on the sun).

We have been working rough all your orders & have produced some awesome custom badges this month, not to mention a huge pile of Halloween badges. It would seem that the hand made revolution is gang great momentum and we are really pleased you are choosing koolbadges for all your hand made button badge needs, our workshop loves you 🙂

Anyway it’s a Friday afternoon and we are closing the workshop early (we are always available for emails so keep ordering guys). We are off to enjoy the last of the sunny weather and to grab a coffee & some cake.

Enjoy your weekend.

Hey Little Cupcake – Manchester Cupcakery

We were back in Manchester a couple of weeks ago. We are looking to move back to the city centre, so whilst house sitting we popped over to Manchester to re-aquaint ourselves with our old stomping ground.

One of our first stops on our city centre adventure was Hey Little Cupcake. We visited them when they first opened but it’s been a while since we have been in Manchester. The cupcakes are amazing, all laid out neatly in a glass cabinet as you walk in, waiting to tempt you off your diet. We opted for an American and a good girl cupcake, the perfect accompaniment to our tea & coffee.

All I can say is wow. The cupcakes where amazing, as was the illy coffee. The staff are equally amazing & very friendly. We both had such a sugar high after finishing our little treat, but it was well worth it. I can’t wait to live back in the city centre, although I’m sure my waistline will grow exponentially due to hey little cupcake.

Here are a few of the pictures we took in hey little cupcake. If you are in Manchester city centre please treat yourself to a cupcake from hey little cupcake, you won’t regret it!

Halloween is in the air

I am really excited for Halloween this year. I am going to carve Pumpkins & try to make something with my pumpkin, maybe soup. I love this time of year. The dark nights & the amazing autumn colours – Scotland is lovely. The leaves are turning reds & oranges and its almost time to dig out the wooly scarf. Can’t wait.

I have noticed quite a few shops have their Halloween goodies in. What are your fave things to do in the Autumn? Got any good pumpkin recipes?

Knitted Poppies FTW

A lovely lady i know by the name of Rachel is knitting Poppies for The Royal British Legion. ALL profits are going to help service men & women. Now i dont think there is anything better than crafting for charity. Rach did not think her cute knitted poppies would be such a hit, but they have gone down a storm & she is knitting like a crazy lady getting them all done.

So lets really make her busy! Her Poppies will last longer than a paper one & she is donating ALL her profits to The Royal British Legion. Poppies cost ?Ǭ£3 each & if you either contact her via Twitter @stitchinthecity or on Facebook

Now this photo does not do her handy work justice — but you can get the idea. I hope you will support a great cause & get in contact with Rachel & order your poppy. I have mine!

Autumn IS here

We are back from house sitting in England — that was a busy 2 weeks catching up with friends & trying to stay on top of orders. Lots of you are super organised and have started to buy not only your Halloween Badges but also your Christmas Badges. So we have been busy as bees in the studio.

On other news we have booked a little trip to Amsterdam in October, so if anyone has tips on where to eat & cute places to go i would love to hear about them.

I will leave you with some badges that have gone out these past 2 weeks. Oh & i am so excited that Autumn is here as its my bday & the most beautiful time of the year., Double celebration.

House sitting in the North of England

We get about, it always seems that we are packing up our beloved Freelander & heading out on the open road. This week we are house sitting for my hubby’s nan whilst she holidays in Madeira (wish i was going for some autumn sunshine).

We have brought all our badge making kit with us (thats why we need a large car). This such a busy time of year for us — with Halloween approaching fast & many customer getting their Christmas orders in early. So we need so take it with us — how hard is it when you work for yourself to take some time off. Its near impossible. At koolbadges we work late in to the night & most weekends too.?Ǭ† I think we need a little elf this year to help out with orders.

Here is some photos from this past week or so.

Day Tripping

This has been a busy week, full of badge making, late sunny summer days – perfect for day tripping. We managed to sneek a cheeky half day & visit Perth (thats Perth Scotland sadly not Perth Austrailia). It was just great. We walked along the river Tay & popped into the Museum which was FREE had a spot of lunch & headed home to post badge orders. Here are a few photos from the day.

Oh & i am starting to get excited as Autumn is so on its way & i love all things Autumn — esp HALLOWEEN.

e.l.f 50% Makeup SALE

Ok so i discovered e.l.f about 4 months ago, they are a low end makeup company — when I say low end I mean in price not in quality. Their price point is so affordable you are able to try makeup you might not usually be able too — like I have discovered mineral foundation & eyeshadows also their primer is amazing too.

I understand that their products may not be great for everyone but they have alot of YouTube videos & blogs written about colour swatches & their products, i recommend you look for them before purchasing Foundation as their swatches on the site are a bit off.

I use YSL foundation & alot of Bobbi Brown & Number 7 makeup & i ‘ve replaced some with e.l.f products esp their eyeshadows & brushes. Mostly due to price. Everyone has less money to spend on products & i find that if I spend a little less on things like eyeshadows, blusher & nail polish I have enough left to buy my favourite higher end makeup without breaking the bank.

This weekend e.l.f is having a 50% off SALE so many products are as cheap as 70p!! Now thats a bargain. So pop on over to their site & have a browse. You will not be disappointed. You will need the code below in order to get the discount. Happy Shopping — oh & left me know how you get on.

My new hideout

Ok so if i am not making badges (which is my full time job) then you will find me at my new favourite hideout. Its a cute place call T Ann Cake — an extra special cafe with a retro feel. It reminds me of my grans kitchen, full of chairs & tables that remind me of her house. Also they play some great music, a mix of 60’s & 70’s tunes.

The people are super friendly & even more important their cakes are out of this world delicious. They are all baked on site at the cafe & have a real grown up feel to them — one of my most enjoyed so far is their Guinness cake. Here are a few pics from my recent visits.

OMG i alsmost forgot to mention they ROCK the Tea Cosy & old school china cups. Whats not too love!
