Dog Sitting

beaver

We have been making many a Valentines Badge in the koolbadges workshop today, but we have to pack up slightly early as we had to dog sit, remember Boris?

He isn’t too well, so when John’s Nan goes out for an evening, we go round to keep an eye on him. He is quite a character (and a little smelly). She was kind enough to make us a Hot Pot, which was simply delicious. It’s always nice when you don’t have to cook yourself, it always tastes better.

So that was our Saturday, nothing exciting, but we got the jobs done. So I’d say that was a successful day. ... Continue Reading

Longing to feel 100%

veg

We are still not quite 100%. John is coughing and I am just feeling tired. We haven’t been this ill ever. So in a bid to feel fighting fit I have stocked up on veggies, fresh juice, chicken, and lots of fruit. We are going to get some fresh air and go for a long walk. John always says that we have our business meetings outside whilst we are walking. We always seem to talk business, well I can think of no better place than outside in the fresh air. There are some lovely places to walk here.

So I am making a big pot of soup as we speak, it’s simmering away, and OMG does it smell so good.

I have started a new book, ‘Rooms of Dust’ anyone read it. I am enjoying it so far. ... Continue Reading

Emma would love these

graphic

Whilst John has been resting and not really up to keeping me entertained, i have been browsing the internet like a lunatic. I have found the best stuff. My friend Emma: founder & keeper of the Happy Rejects would love these notebooks,

Notebooks are from See Jane Work

I am making some home-made leek & potato soup today, with some crunchy bread! We are in need of warming up.

These boots were made for walking

boots

I have found these so very nice boots online. I simply love them & want them in equal amounts. I have no birthday coming up & Christmas is behind us, so how can I persuade my extra lovely husband to get them for me? Suggestions, I must have these boots.

Boots are from Zappos.com

Oh, John, update – we went to the NHS centre yesterday, as he was really hot, and we couldn’t get his temp down. The verdict was, he has a nasty viral infection for which no drugs will help. They said lots of rest & honey, lemon & hot water is the ticket. Oh, & some paracetamol. He has been suffering esp with his sinuses they are blocked and sore 🙁 I have to say the walk-in center was great, we waited 15 mins to be seen by a nurse then only a further 5 to be seen by a lovely lady doctor. What a great service we have in the UK! So it gets a massive thumbs up from us ... Continue Reading

Obama Inauguration

Me & a very sick John are wrapped up warm on the sofa, with lots of hot coffee & fruit tea, watching the Obama inauguration. We are quite excited!

It’s a bright, but cold winters day here in the north of England. We braved the cold earlier today to go to the post office and get supplies in for John (tissues & lemsip).

Koolbadges has been busy making Valentines & St Patrick’s Day badges. I will post some pictures later. I am going to get back to BBC News 24.

Man on Wire

Simply an incredible film, if you can call it that, I think it’s more of a feature length documentary. One daringly brilliant man, who looks at building/structures in an almost child like way, in that they had to be conquered, climbed and explored. I was scared watching him perform his high wire walks, after the fact, never mind how scary it must have been for his friends and family to watch at the time. Gripping and quite surreal.

He must have been so centred and calm to be able to even step out on the wire! I highly recommend this film, it’s great. Philippe Petit will get you thinking.

Friday was a Busy Day

Today is Friday, not that the days hold any significant meaning when you work for yourself. That’s not a bad thing, I remember when I worked at the bank I used to wish the days away and long for it to be Friday. Weekends were something to look forward too, but then we always seemed to do not a lot with them & before you knew it, it was Monday! Time to go back to work & the cycle continued. Wishing the days and weeks away.

So now that I get to wake up every day and work from home with my exceptionally lovely husband (I am not biased everyone thinks he is lovely) esp me! I count myself very lucky. Oh, and I have found the time to watch quite a few good movies Man on Wire (amazing & crazy), Slumdog Millionaire (Beautiful story) and Marley and Me (I have read the book and knew what was coming and still cried!). ...
